Brianna Williams
My name is Brianna Williams, and I’m a proud Menang Goreng woman.
I started painting when I was younger, just as something to do.To pass the time and help keep a strong mind and strengthen my connection to culture. It’s now a way for me to share stories that are important to me and my people. Every one of my artworks holds meaning and reflects a part of my Country.
Painting runs in my family. It’s a generational practice. My Pops, Dale and Oliver (Puddles), my mum, myself, and now my son all paint. It’s our way to heal, to stay connected, and to tell stories. My painting skills come from my mum, a well-known Noongar artist Donna Williams, and from my Pop, the late Oliver “Puddles” Williams. I’m proud to carry on their legacy through my art.
